Clinics

As part of our commitment to preventative care, we provide a full range of special Clinics including:

The Nurses and Doctors who run these sessions have had specialist training in the appropriate areas.

Are you over 65?

Everybody over the age of 65 will be offered protection against the Pneumococcal infection.  Pneumococcal disease is a term used to describe a range of illnesses such as pneumonia, septicaemia (blood poisoning) and meningitis (inflammation around the brain), when these are caused by the bacterium Streptococcus pneumoniae.  The disease is spread by coughing, sneezing or close contact between people.  Everybody is at risk of getting pneumococcal disease, but the older you are, the greater the risk.  You are particularly vulnerable if you also have a heart or lung condition, diabetes mellitus, have no spleen or have a weakened immune system; for example, if you are having treatment for cancer.  So everyone aged 65 and over is now being offered by letter a routine pneumococcal jab.  If you have already had the jab, you should not need another one within 10 years unless indicated otherwise by your doctor or Practice Nurse.

Health Care Assistant

The Surgery has a Health Care Assistant who is fully trained as a phlebotomist (taking blood), she also trained in taking blood pressures and has been trained in taking ECGs.  Her role is to work with the doctors and the nurses.  The role has already provided benefits to the Practice by freeing nursing appointments, making it easier for patients to see nurses without long delays.

Chaperone Policy

This organisation is committed to providing a safe, comfortable environment where patients and staff can be confident that best practice it being followed at all times and the safety of everyone is of paramount importance.

All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination or procedure where they feel one is required. This chaperone may be a family member or friend. On occasions you may prefer a formal chaperone to be present, i.e. a trained member of staff.

Wherever possible we would ask you to make this request at the time of booking appointment so that arrangements can be made and your appointment is not delayed in any way. Where this is not possible we will endeavor to provide a formal chaperone at the time of request. However occasionally it may be necessary to reschedule your appointment.

Your healthcare professional may also require a chaperone to be present for certain consultations in accordance with our chaperone policy.
